AppZero Named OnDemand Top 100 Winner by AlwaysOn

Highlights companies that are introducing game-changing approaches and technologies

Server application virtualization pioneer, AppZero, on Thursday announced that it has been selected by AlwaysOn as an OnDemand Top 100 winner. The OnDemand Top 100 list highlights companies that are introducing game-changing approaches and technologies that are likely to disrupt existing markets and entrenched players. AppZero was specially selected by the AlwaysOn editorial team and industry expert leaders spanning the globe based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.

AppZero is recognized for its Virtual Application Appliance (VAA), a technology that encapsulates a server application and all of its dependencies, but with zero operating system (OS) component. The VAA, freed from any OS encumbrance, can move seamlessly from data center to, and among, clouds and back across both physical and virtual servers.

The AlwaysOn recognition is just one of many recent wins for AppZero. AppZero is dubbed "Best Business Application" by Computerworld, a Demo show favorite by PCWorld and eWeek as well as "Best of Demo" by Next Big Thing blogger Don Dodge. AppZero has been named one of the "20 Coolest Cloud Computing Infrastructure Vendors" by CRN, as well as a "Top 25 Cloud Services Provider" by Virtualization Journal, and a "Top 7 Cloud Computing Acquisition Target" by Datamation.

"The AppZero VAA enables a single gold server-application image for instant, cross-domain provisioning of private clouds, to multiple clouds and back, giving ultimate control back to the business," says Greg O'Connor, AppZero CEO. "This automation of installation and configuration of server applications speeds deployment, reduces errors, cuts the need for a human touch and offers businesses an on-demand approach for running server-side apps when and where they want. We're honored to be recognized for our efforts by AlwaysOn."

"As the digital information created by businesses continues to explode at astronomical rates, the need to store, manage, analyze, and share this information is becoming extremely challenging," said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. "We congratulate this year's 'OnDemand 100' for providing the technology platforms and services needed to manage and leverage this new era of information complexity and overload."

The OnDemand 100 winners were chosen from among hundreds of other technology companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists, and industry insiders. The AlwaysOn editorial team conducted a rigorous three-month selection process to finalize the 2010 list. A full list of all the "OnDemand 100" winners can be found on the AlwaysOn website at: http://alwayson.goingon.com/permalink/post/34759.

About AppZero
AppZero software virtualizes Windows and UNIX server applications for nearly instant provisioning as services across a network, on any server (physical or virtual), in the datacenter or in the cloud. First to market with a toolset for virtualizing server-side applications, AppZero has pioneered the Virtual Application Appliance (VAA), in which an application is encapsulated with all of its dependencies - but without any operating system (OS) component. The result is server applications that are 100% portable with zero footprint and performance near native levels. For enterprises and ISVs intrigued by the capital-free potential of pay-as-you-go-computing, AppZero provides a smooth on-ramp to the cloud without any cloud lock-in. Requiring no modification to existing applications, AppZero makes it technically easy and economically sensible to explore and exploit cloud computing. Become an AppZero Fan on Facebook.
